Shirley L. (Hartel) Boyd, 84, of Hillsboro, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at 11:32 a.m. at her residence.
Cremation rites were accorded. Private burial will take place at Clear Springs Cemetery in Hillsboro. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mrs. Boyd was born Aug. 21, 1936, in St. Louis, MO, to Louis and Dorothy (Williamson) Hartel. She married Joseph “Joe” R. Boyd on Aug. 21, 1952, in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2005.
She was a housewife, who cleaned houses and worked at Wepco in Litchfield.
Mrs. Boyd was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church, Salvation Army, and volunteered at the Moose Lodge #1377 in Hillsboro.
She resided in Hillsboro her entire lifetime.
Mrs. Boyd is survived by her children, Jerry Boyd of Hillsboro, Bob Boyd of Waggoner, Brenda (husband Gene) Beach of Taylor Springs and Barb Boyd of Mesa, AZ; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Leroy Hartel and Marlene Parks.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; children, Lora Boyd in infancy and Marsha Casner on July 28, 2020; grandchild, Michael Beach; great-grandchild, Remington Beach; and siblings, Gordon E. Hartel, Earl “Butch” Hartel and Maxine Meier.
