Springfield Man Charged In Abby Neisler Death


A Springfield man who was already in custody for multiple pending felonies was also charged with three counts of first degree murder on Wednesday, May 20, in the Jan. 11 death of a Springfield woman with local connections.

Ronald D. Porter, 32, of Springfield, has been charged with a series of alleged crimes between August 2019 and January, including the death of Abby Lynn Neisler, 24, of Springfield, the daughter of Jerry L. and Dayna J. (DeLuka) Neisler of Pawnee, and granddaughter of Dorothy Neisler of Witt, Gary Neisler of Hillsboro, and Bob DeLuka of Nokomis.

Porter had been arrested on Feb. 4 for a series of aggravated robberies committed in January and February, but in the new charges is accused of stalking Neisler, entering her home late on Jan. 10, sexually assaulting her and stabbing her multiple times, causing her death. He then allegedly set fire to the residence.

Neisler’s body was found in a bedroom in the front of the home by Springfield firefighters just before 6 a.m. on Jan. 11.

In separate incidents, Porter has also been charged with home invasion, attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated robbery, financial institution robbery, residential arson, arson, insurance fraud and obstructing justice.
