"A big thank you to every person who donated or helped all the teams this year," said Cody McCoy at this year's Stamp Out Cancer event. "It's a great cause that really hits home for us, and it's been so much fun."

Cody and his wife, Kelby, dubbed "The Real McCoys" took home top honors at this year's popular Stamp Out Cancer fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taylor Springs. The couple held more than 20 fundraisers over the past seven weeks and raised nearly $22,000 for the Montgomery County Cancer Association.

The other four celebrity lip sync participants also stepped up for the cause, raising a total of over $66,000 for the MCCA this year. Other participants were Greg and Gaye De-Right of Hillsboro, Tom and Theresa Priddle of Litchfield, Russ and Keri Foster of Nokomis and Jessica Vickery and Brittany Ronco of Litchfield.

A final total from this year's fundraiser will be announced in Thursday's paper.

"It was our biggest one to date," said organizer Zach Wygal. "It was just a perfect night."

Emcee Don Downs welcomed the crowd of more than 500 to the sold-out event. He introduced each of this year's lip sync contestants and shared why they wanted to be part of the Stamp Out Cancer event. Many have loved ones that have passed away from cancer or continue the fight today. Downs also asked for a moment of silence for young Ayden O'Malley of Nokomis, who passed away last week.

Vickery and Ronco were the last team to perform, and closed the show with "Stand By Me," joined by all the participants and Stamp Out Cancer committee members.

"Continue to support, continue to help and continue to pray for those affected by cancer," Vickery said. "And stick together, guys. That's what this is all about."
