"This is our biggest year, bar none," said Zach Wygal of Stamp Out Cancer.
He and his committee presented a $90,000 check to the Montgomery County Cancer Association on Wednesday evening, Jan. 31, at the Hillsboro Moose Lodge.
This year's eighth annual Stamp Out Cancer fundraiser was held on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taylor Springs.
Wygal said the previous record was $70,500, set in 2017, and praised this year's five celebrity lip sync couples who brought in over $66,000 of the total.
Over the past eight years, Stamp Out Cancer has generated more $415,000 for the MCCA, which helps with local patient assistance and mileage, cancer research funding and scholarships.
MCCA board member Joyce Lipe was on hand to accept the donation, and told members it was simply "awesome."
Lipe added that it seemed fitting that the final performance of the night at this year's event was "Stand By Me," bringing in all the teams as well as the committee members.
"That's what this is all about," Lipe said. "We're going to use this money to stand by a lot of cancer patients in Montgomery County and help them out."
