Steven D. Cain, 71, of rural New Douglas, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Community Hospital of Staunton.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the New Douglas Community Center, 209 South Main Street. Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston and Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton are assisting the family.
Mr. Cain was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Carlinville, to Marlin and Stella (Hammann) Cain.
He was a self-employed farmer and previously owned J.D. Bodies Fabrication Shop in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Cain loved tractor pulling with his sons, feeding the fish at his pond and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a notorious prankster and jokester. He enjoyed raising cattle and was very proud of his steaks.
He is survived by his significant other, Kendra Mize of Bunker Hill; sons, Joshua (Valerie) Cain of Litchfield and Devin (Katie) Cain of New Douglas; five grandchildren, Adley, Kinsley, Halle, Henry and Lincoln Cain; two sisters, Karen (Dennis) Hembrough and Jan (Dan) Brown, both of Carlinville; and several nieces and nephews.
