The man who allegedly fired shots at an occupied vehicle after a disturbance on Route 16 on the east side of Litchfield on Saturday was taken into custody on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in Troy.
Michael J. Fosnock, 35, of Litchfield, who had been at large since the incident early Saturday morning, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for aggravated discharge of a firearm.
According to Litchfield police, Fosnock was taken into custody at 4:53 p.m. in Troy by the police department there after an investigation by the Troy Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, South Central Illinois Drug Task Force, Metro Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois, and the United States Marshal Service.
During the arrest, a controlled substance was located and an additional search warrant was issued for a location in Troy with the assistance of the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s office. Additional charges are pending.
The original disturbance occurred at 3342 East Illinois Route 16 in Litchfield at about 3 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. According to police, when two individuals tried to leave, the suspect exited the residence and allegedly fired several shots toward the departing vehicle, hitting it multiple times.
