Tad Flowers, 74, of Greenville, died at his home Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Greenville First Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will follow at the church at 11:30 a.m. with Dwain DePew and Darryl Bolen officiating. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family.

David Nathan “Tad” Flowers was born Sept. 19, 1948, in Vandalia, the son of Creole Udell and Genevieve (Beeson) Flowers. He grew up in Fillmore, and attended public school and high school his freshman year. The family moved to Nokomis, where he graduated high school.

During the Vietnam-era, Mr. Flowers served his country with the 183rd Tactical Dispensary. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force and attended and graduated from Greenville College (now Greenville University) with a degree in business.

Mr. Flowers and Diane Taulbee were united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1968. They moved to Greenville in 1971, where he started to work at Bass – Mollett Publishers. He later became an owner, and worked for the company for 50 years. In retirement, he has continued to enjoy golf, spending time with family and friends and being a wonderful grandpa.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Flowers is survived by two sons, Tadd (wife Jocelyn) Flowers and Dustin Flowers; two very special grandchildren, Gabriel and Jasmine; and two brothers, Duane (wife Linda) Flowers of St. Louis, MO, and Steve (wife Judy) Flowers of Greenville.
