Talented Greenville Squad Too Much For Nokomis Girls

Posted

The Nokomis Lady Redskins were on the road once again as they traveled to Greenville to battle the Lady Comets on Monday, Dec. 2.
The Skins knew they were up against a tough Comet squad and were going to have to stop some dominating players from running the show the whole night. To try and accomplish that goal, the Lady Redskins decided to change up their defense once again and play a 2-3 to eliminate Megan Hallemann, the 6’4" post for the Lady Comets.

Being undersized in the post, it was the guards' job to knock down outside shots to score the majority of the points for the Redskins. The guards answered, knocking down a couple threes and outside shots, resulting in the Skins only trailing by three at the end of the first quarter.

As the second quarter started, the guards for the Comets stepped up, knocking down every shot the Lady Redskins allowed them to take, and took a large, 10-point lead to finish off the half 28-18.

Coming out at half, the Lady Redskins failed to keep up with the Comets' momentum and hustle. The guards for Greenville were simply too much for the Skins to handle. Many unforced turnovers for the Skins resulted in them being outscored by 22 points, making the score 56-24 at the end of the third quarter.

Feeling generous, the Greenville coach played the JV squad for the Comets halfway through the fourth quarter, ending the game with a score of 56-28.

Nokomis' Audrey Sabol led the team with eight points, while Mia Fesser added six herself. Macee Eisenbarth added five, Emily Cress added four, Jayme Johnson knocked down a three and Hailey Engelman had a shot herself.

Nokomis will be back at home on Thursday, Dec. 5, to face Madison in a varsity only clash at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Redskins head to North Mac, where they will meet the Panthers at 1 p.m.
