Mr. Land was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Peoria, the son of Ira and Gladys (Smith) Land (later Pearson) and stepson to Ivan Pearson. He married his high school sweetheart, Alice Marie Fesser, on June 23, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel, and she survives.

He proudly served our nation immediately after high school by enlisting in the United States Air Force, and later served full-time in the Missouri Air National Guard, mainly working on jet aircraft until his retirement in 1985.

In his free time, Mr. Land thoroughly enjoyed camping, bass fishing, farming and rebuilding Tri-Five Chevys.  Most of all, his passion was being with family no matter when and where they could meet.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his son, Mike (wife Sheri) Land of Sachse, TX; daughter, Christy (husband Dale) Witte of Wentzville, MO; grandchildren, Ian and Jake Land and Lily Witte; brothers-in-law, Larry (wife Joyce) Fesser of Farmersville and Dale (wife Veronica) Fesser of Rochester; sister-in-law, Mary J. Fesser of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Land was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Wilson; and brother-in-law, Glenn C. Fesser.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Monroe Street, Harvel, IL 62538.
