Thirty-Five New Cases Here During Past Week


The number and rate of COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Montgomery County during the past week nearly duplicated the previous week.

As of Sunday, Oct. 4, the Montgomery County Health Department reported 35 new cases for a positivity rate of 3.3 percent during the week.  The week before, there were 36 new cases in the county and a positivity rate of 3.2 percent.  Both weeks are higher than the county’s overall positivity rate of 2.4 percent since the first case was reported here on March 28.

The new cases bring the total in Montgomery County to 388 since the pandemic began.  As of Sunday, four test results remain pending, according to the health department.

The Illinois Department of Corrections reports that as of Sunday, 51 of the 66 coronavirus cases among staff at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro are recovered; three of the 22 inmate cases are reported recovered.
