Thomas E. Boehler, 82

Thomas Eldon Boehler, 82, of Waggoner, died on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 5:19 p.m. at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Boehler was born in Waggoner to Ralph Martin and Cathryn (Irwin) Boehler. He married Dolores Joan Trueblood on Jan. 23, 1960, in Farmersville, and she survives.

A graduate of Farmersville High School, he and his family operated the Walnut Shop, manufacturing wood picture frames and other items. He also operated Boehler's Mini Mart in Waggoner, where children of the village could show their report cards in exchange for treats.

Mr. Boehler also served as a village water superintendent, mowed yards and worked for Franklin Life Insurance Co. in Springfield for many years.

He was the drummer for the band known as The Jivin' Five Orchestra for several years and filled in as drummer for several area bands.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Boehler is survived by two sons, Steve (Lori) Boehler and Ruben (Ginger) Boehler, both of Waggoner; four daughters, Cynthia (companion Mark Moore) Hatton and Eva Boehler, both of Waggoner, Carmen McLaughlin of Raymond and Constance (fiance Peter Jackson) Belanger of Litchfield; a brother, R. Gene (Kay) Boehler of Farmersville; two sisters, Blanche (Norman) Bourland of Florida and Alice (Don) Davis of Ocala, FL; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jesse "Wayne" and Dale Boehler; stepbrother, Ronald Nelson; three sisters, baby Joan, Dot Campbell and Bonnie Sidles; and two grandchildren, Keith Van and Caitlyn Welsh.
