Thomas Eugene Durbin, 65, of Morrisonville, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held in Harvel Cemetery following services at the funeral home.
Mr. Durbin was born Feb. 10, 1960, in Taylorville, the son of Gene and Carolyn J. Durbin. He married Tonya Kirkpatrick on Aug. 13, 1988.
Mr. Durbin, a dedicated coal miner for many years, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and hard work. He had a passion for riding motorcycles and enjoyed camping trips to the lake.
Known for his generosity, Mr. Durbin would do anything for anyone. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also famous among loved ones for his delicious homemade noodles. Mr. Durbin will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Mr. Durbin is survived by his wife, Tonya Durbin of Morrisonville; children, Stephanie (Ronnie) Durbin of Morrisonville, Joseph (Jenna) Apps of Alabama, Lucas (Kate) Durbin of Taylorville, Tomi (Tucker) May of Taylorville and Audrey Durbin (Austin Dunkirk) of Springfield; grandchildren, Allison Walton (Joseph Pop), Ashley Walton, Ava Walton, Nicolas Apps (Francheska Apps), Joseph “Broady” Apps, Rylie Durbin and Reagan Durbin; great-grandchild, Ryder Pop; siblings, Bo (Joy) Durbin of Taylorville and Sharon Travis of Taylorville; and his beloved cat, Bobo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Carolyn Durbin; nephew, Joshua “Josh” Durbin; and his mother-in-law, Faye Kirkpatrick.
