Thomas ‘Hank’ Hoff, 68

Thomas Henry “Hank” Hoff, 68, of Hillsboro, died on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, after battling a prolonged illness.

Due to the pandemic, funeral arrangements were delayed. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. at The Event Center in Hillsboro. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro assisted the family.

Mr. Hoff was born on May 30, 1952, in Hillsboro, to Harry L. “Bud” Hoff and Mary Jane (Vandever) Hoff. He married Janet Miller.  

Growing up he loved toy guns, motorcycles and watching westerns, hobbies he continued to love throughout his life. After graduating from Fauquier High School in 1970, Mr. Hoff was trained as a welder in Richmond, VA. He used his welding skills his entire life, and was employed as a coal miner in various places.  Always the machinating machinist, even when Mr. Hoff wasn’t working he could be found fixing, piddling with or learning about something mechanical.

Mr. Hoff is survived by his wife; mother; three daughters,  Melissa (Mike) Marty of Huntsville, AL, Elaine (Ron) of Mobile, AL, and Amanda (Saeed Darabi) of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren,  Tyler and Devan Smith, and Alexa and Olivia Marty; two brothers, Bill (Bev) Hoff and Jim (Donna) Hoff; brother-in-law, Martin Parr; several nieces and nephews; and beloved friends, Jerry Milanos, Tim Meyer, Dave Stearns, Steve Glaettli and Howard Keiser.

He was predeceased by his father; and two sisters, Hannah and Hope.
