Thomas Richard Elmore, 63, of Chatham, formerly of Farmersville, died Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, 226 N. 3rd Street, Girard. Private Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, with Pastor Larry Griffith and Pastor Tony Sale officiating. Burial will take place in the Rovey Cemetery in Farmersville.
Mr. Elmore was born on Dec. 6, 1960, to Robert and Betty (Luce) Elmore in Springfield. He was a 1979 graduate of Raymond Lincolnwood High School, and then graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago with a B.S.E.E.T. degree. He was an honor student and a member of NU Delta Chapter of Pau Alpha Pi.
He started his working career for Honeywell Corporation (Alliant Techsystems, Inc.) in 1984 in Minneapolis, MN, as an electronics engineer and then moved back home in 1994 where he then worked as the director of engineering for DICKEY-john Corporation in Auburn and took over the family farm in Farmersville. After 16 years at DICKEY-john, he retired and farmed full time.
Mr. Elmore was a member of New Life Family Church in Auburn, a board member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and served on the Farmersville Township Board for several years. He enjoyed fast cars and owned a 1969 Plymouth GTX. He loved to travel and took his family on many trips, with Cancun being their favorite destination. He also enjoyed shooting and collecting guns, and had a special bond with his German Shepherd dogs.
Mr. Elmore is survived by his wife Donna; two daughters, Alexandra N. Elmore of Farmersville and Amber L. (Walter) Jarvis of Farmersville; sister, Barb Jean (Chuck) Pearson of Wheatfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Betty Elmore, and his brother, Bob Elmore.
Memorials are suggested to Sangamon County Animal Control in Springfield.
