Tickets On Sale For Virtual Valentine Gala

This year, the Hillsboro Area Health Foundation’s premier fundraising event–which has helped bring new doctors, health and long-term care facilities to town as well as funding health research–will be virtual.

The foundation’s Valentine Gala, set for Saturday, Feb. 13, will still feature a prime rib and chicken dinner and the signature silent auction, but this year due to health risks from the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be virtual.

“This year’s Valentine Gala will be unique,” according to event planner Barbara Boston, who recently began working for the hospital and foundation after a career in court reporting, newspaper copy editing, and event planning.  “By supporting our online auction and carry-out dinner, you will help the Hillsboro Area Health Foundation raise funds to support The Blues Program, an international youth-based mental health intervention program based in Eugene, OR.”

The Blues Program is the second phase of the Hillsboro area school district’s Sources of Strength (SOS) program funded by last year’s gala. 

The program will train hospital mental health personnel to intervene as needed with students identified by the school, beginning next month. The hospital staff’s time will be donated to this program. Both programs work hand-in-hand. The SOS program, which started November of 2020, trains teachers, school staff members and ultimately student peer leaders to lead activities in an effort to prevent more serious mental health related outcomes. The online auction will feature video presentations from school psychologist Amanda Cunningham and Cross Over Ministries Director Jodi Reynolds about the need for the program among youth.

The dinner will be served to-go between 5-7 p.m. at The Event Center in Taylor Springs and includes prime rib, chicken, potato, salad, dessert, and the choice of wine or beer.

Bidding for the auction will begin on Saturday, Feb. 6, at www.aumannauction.com and will end at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Tickets for both the dinner and auction cost $50 per person, and tickets for just the online auction are $20 each.  Dinner tickets must be pre-ordered and paid for by Feb. 4, but auction-only tickets may be purchased through Feb. 13.
