Trinity Waelterman, 17, of Greenville, and formerly of Granite City, died on Friday, April 24, 2026, at home surrounded by her family after a brave battle with cancer.
A full obituary will be published in a later edition of The Journal-News. Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family.
Ms. Waelterman is the daughter of Terry Lee Waelterman and Ashley Elizabeth Moore. She was born in Greenville on Oct. 15, 2008. The family moved to Granite City where she attended school and was about ready for her senior year in high school. In June of 2025, the family moved back to Greenville.
Ms. Waelterman was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer that affects the entire body. She was undergoing a 46-week chemotherapy regimen.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robin A. Moore of Hillsboro.
The family wants to thank all of those who have donated. Special thanks to Bond County Hospice and Social Workers for their care of Ms. Waelterman.
