Virginia Mary Frank Mizera, 92, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday morning, March 4, 2026 in her home in Denton, TX.
A Funeral Mass followed by cemetery and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church at 306 McElroy, in Raymond.
Mrs. Mizera was born on Nov. 14, 1933, and was married to Thomas Edward Mizera until his passing in 2001. In her mind, she remained married to him until the end.
She loved flowers, birds, gardening and playing Scrabble. She was a whiz at many other games and she liked to play at family gatherings. She also loved fabric and sewing and was admired for her story telling.
Her musical taste ranged from Dixieland Jazz to Willie Nelson to the Beach Boys and much more. “I’ve lived a very full life,” she has often said.
Mrs. Mizera loved being a grandparent to her four grandchildren, Leighann Mizera, Logan Currie, Olivia Currie and Becky (Chad) Kohut Smith. She also loved being a great grandmother to Hunter and Collin, the children of Becky and Chad Smith.
Mrs. Mizera, or Ginger to many, loved all her family; siblings, nieces and nephews and their children. She loved her husband’s family as much as her own from all her brothers and sisters-in-law, to each and every niece and nephew. She could even remember the names of the great nieces and nephews. She had cousins whom she cherished of which are too many to count. She remembered birthdays by sending cards in the mail in the “old days” and Facebook messages to so many in modern times.
Mrs. Mizera survived most of her beloved friends, yet is long remembered by their families of which are too many to list but are all remembered. She spent her last days surrounded by family and her familiar photos and memories.
Mrs. Mizera is survived by five daughters, Angelique (Christa Veenstra) Mizera, Lisa Currie, Juliet Mizera, Carin Mizera and Chrisandra Mizera.
In lieu of flowers, one may choose to make a donation in her name to the Bee and Butterfly Habitat Fund at www.beeandbutterflyfund.org.
