Verona (Busonic) Kalvin, 95, of Mt. Olive, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at 6:23 a.m. at Heritage Health of Staunton.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Ritter officiating. Burial will be held in Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive.

Mrs. Kalvin was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Staunton, to Mike and Verona (Kozak) Busonic. She married Steven James "Snags" Kalvin on Jan. 22, 1949, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Mt. Olive, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2001.

She attended Mt. Olive schools. She worked for  Acu Rule in Mt. Olive, and previously worked for International Paper Company in Litchfield. She was manager of Mt. Olive Turner Hall with her husband. She enjoyed word books, was an avid Cubs fan, and loved and supported her family.

She is survived by one son, James (Jan) Kalvin of Madison, WI; one sister, Margaret Ban of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Joe, Steve, Mike Jr., George and Frank Busonic; and four sisters, Marie Mateja, Helen Sullivan, Annabelle Zippay and Elizabeth Sanders.

Memorials may be made to Union Miners Cemetery.
