Virgil M. Wright, 81, of Fillmore, died on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at 8:28 p.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Cremation rites were accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the family farm located at 21144 Seven Sisters Avenue, Fillmore. Those attending are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Wright was born July 5, 1939, in Hillsboro, to Marion and LaRue (Neisler) Wright. He married Roberta Kay Naylor on Oct. 17, 1965, at Woodside Church in Irving, and she survives.

He graduated from Nokomis High School, and served in the Illinois National Guard.

During his career, Mr. Wright was a self-employed painter, who painted many structures around the county.

He was a member of White Tails Unlimited Committee and Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377. He loved spending time with his family and to hunt, fish and bowl. He bowled in Hillsboro Bowling League for many years.

Mr. Wright was a resident of Montgomery County his entire life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Cassaundra (husband Lynn) Laurent, Kerri (husband Bill) Wilson, Lori (husband Tom) Lindsay, Virgil Wright, Jr. and April Wright; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Delores Sturgis and Beverly Worth, both of Warsaw, IN, and Juanita Wright-Porter of Chicago.

Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Wright; one brother; and one sister.
