Vivian A. Grimes, 91, of Oakley, died on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral service will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ritchie Cemetery in Oakley. The family requests casual attire during services.

Mrs. Grimes was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Barnett, to Harry David and Girlie Mae (Spoon) Stockstill. She married George Grimes on June 5, 1949, in Litchfield, and he survives.

During her career, she worked for Hardee's restaurants for 35 years.

Mrs. Grimes enjoyed watching Fighting Illini basketball, and loved spending time with her family and camping at Vandalia Lake. Known for making the best potato salad around, she will always be remembered for her kind heart.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Wayne Grimes of Etoile, TX, Harold (Arlene) Grimes of Lufkin, TX, Steven Grimes of Oakley and Margaret (Mike) Wingard of Decatur; four grandchildren, Harold Grimes, Jr., Siegel Grimes, Ryan Paslay and Andrew Wingard; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cecil Stockstill and Harold Stockstill; and a granddaughter, Tracy Dailey.
