Vivian Iona Cress, 87, of Lawrenceville, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held Sunday, Feb. 21, in Holy Cross Cemetery near Litchfield.

Mrs. Cress was born March 13, 1933, in Litchfield, to Clarence “Doc” and Ellen Beatrice (Smith) Wey. She married Hugh Henry “Hoot” Cress. They enjoyed many years of marriage and raised a fantastic family together. He preceded her in death.

Many people knew and loved her from seeing her at the Lawrenceville Moose and the golf course. She retired from the Moose after 20 years. She had a quick wit about her and an infectious smile. She absolutely loved her family. She was a member of the Lawrenceville Moose and the VFW.

She is survived by six children, Bruce Cress of Virginia Beach, VA, Vicki (husband Jim) Fuller of Lawrenceville, Norman (wife Chris) Cress of Louisville, KY, Amy (husband Bill) Drummond of Bridgeport, Mary (husband Brian) Lowie of Atlanta, GA, and Mike (wife Stephanie) Cress of Virginia Beach, VA; nine grandchildren, Justin Wolford, Jennifer McKinstry, Kristina Barker, Jay Helvey, Cole Helvey, Mary Ashley Cress, Vivian Lexi Cress, Jacob Cress, J.R. Cress, Angela Cress and Karen Cress; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton Livesay, and Parker and Paxton McKinstry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Timothy Cress.
