The Hannibal-LaGrange University women's softball team finished a 6-4 week at the PFXA Spring Games in Clermont, FL, with a 7-6 win over Cornerstone University, thanks to a walk-off grand slam by Hillsboro High School graduate Kendra Jacob.
In that game, Hannibal-LaGrange jumped out to a 3-0 lead, only to see Cornerstone tie it up on the top of the fourth, and then take a 6-3 lead with three more runs in the top of the sixth.
Down three in their last at-bat, Hannibal-LaGrange led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch, followed by an error and a single to load the bases. After a Cornerstone pitching change, Jacob jacked the first pitch she saw over the center field wall for a walk-off grand slam.
The game-winner capped an incredible week for Jacob, who hit .488 (16-for-33) during the ten games March 3-8 in Florida.
The 6-4 record at the PFXA Spring Games improved the Trojans to 6-8 on the season with a doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, against William Woods University in Fulton, MO.
Jacob is currently a sophomore at the university in Hannibal, MO, majoring in exercise science.
