Wanda Darlene Hantla-Henesey, 73, of Alton, formerly of Raymond, died on Sept. 21, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be Thurs, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. until the noon service at Community Christian Church, located at 2345 Union School Rd, in Alton, with Pastor David Burger officiating. A private burial for family and very close friends will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.

Mrs. Hantla-Henesey was born in Litchfield on Dec. 9, 1949, the only child of Fredrick O. and Edith (Nail) Hantla. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Christian education from St. Louis Christian College in St. Louis. Mrs. Hantla-Henesey married Tom Henesey of Alton on Jan. 15, 2011, immediately gaining four children and the title of grandma.

She worked in the financial department for St. Anthony Hospital in Alton for 30 years, then for Touchette Regional Hospital in East St. Louis until retirement. She was a member of the Raymond Christian Church and Community Christian Church in Alton.

As a result of her parents owning Raymond Bowl in Raymond, she developed a love for the sport and became and avid bowler. She and her husband enjoyed RV travels, especially when they would make their annual trips to Ludington, MI and Navarre, FL. She was a lifetime St. Louis Cardinals fan and dearly loved her “tiggers.”

In addition to her husband, Mrs.Hantla-Henesey is survived by children Mandy and Kurt Atkinson, Jaime and Jerry Dwiggins, and Toby and Katie Henesey, all of Alton; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many cousins;  chosen family Randy and Tammy Wagahoff; and lifelong friends Linda (Engleman) Broaddus and Donna (Fesser) Wade.

Mrs. Hantla-Henesey was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Jill Henesey.
