Wesley Skinner, 82, of Taylorville, died on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville.

Mr. Skinner was born on Nov. 19, 1941, in Taylorville, the son of the late Albert and Mildred (Nance) Skinner. On March 25, 1964, he married Carmeline Durbin in Taylorville, and she survives.

Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife, Carmeline Skinner of Taylorville; children Melissa Nation (Scott Grundy) of Taylorville and Gary Skinner (Lisa Merrifield) of Owaneco; grandchildren, Brian Murphy II (Brittany Reincke), Emily (Jordan) Henry and Kerry (Christian) Vacker; great-grandchildren, Trenton Murphy, Hudson Murphy, Arwyn Henry, Jensen Henry and Theseus Vacker; sister-in-law Gloria Pumphery; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rosie Smith and Jessie Pruitt and brothers Ralph Skinner and Roy Skinner.

Mr. Skinner enjoyed watching Nascar races and was a big fan of driver, Bill Elliott. In his free time, he loved fishing at Sangchris Lake and going on camping trips at the Sherwood Forest Campground in Hillsboro. Above all he loved spending time with his family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer.
