William J. ‘Bill’ Ogle, 97

William Joseph “Bill” Ogle, 97, of Carlinville, died on Sunday morning, May 17, 2020, at The Cottages of Carlinville.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlinville at a later date. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is assisting the family.

Mr. Ogle was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Caseyville, to Joseph and Juanita (Powell) Ogle. He married Shirley Alice Bax, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 1976. He later married Juva Miller in 1978, and she also preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2009.

Following high school graduation, he served his country in the 78th U.S. Army Air Force as a private during WWII.

During his career, Mr. Ogle worked in the maintenance department for Monsanto in St. Louis, MO, for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlinville, the Macoupin County Ham Radio Operators, Guy Baird American Legion Post #554, and past Exalted Ruler of the Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412.

He is survived by his son, William Leslie Ogle of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Dawn Beth Ogle of St. Louis, MO; great-granddaughter, Anna Stein; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wives, Mr. Ogle was preceded in death by his parents; and half-brother, Stephen Ogle.
