William “Bill” Kenneth Brookman, 90, of Pawnee, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at his home.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee at a later date.
Mr. Brookman was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Litchfield, the son of Kenneth L. and Vera M. Sackett Brookman. He married Elaine Sue Thrasher on Sept. 20, 1980, in Tulsa, OK.
Mr. Brookman graduated from Litchfield High School in 1951, and he was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for the Illinois Secretary of State Driver Services for 20 years, retiring in 2005. He also was a member of the Service Employees International Union. Mr. Brookman loved spending time with his family, golfing, bowling and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Mr. Brookman is survived by his wife, Sue, of Pawnee; three daughters, Deborah J. Pepelea of Terre Haute, IN, Kimberly A. (Larry) Keffer of Wilsonville and Tonya R. (Jeff) Packenham of Pawnee; five grandchildren, Matthew (Natalya) Pepelea, Samantha (Clint) Kuchar, Victoria (Tyler) Hopper, Alexa (Jud) Sieber and Gage Thompson; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey Brookman, in 2005; one brother, Darrell Brookman; and three sisters, Jean O’Dell, Barb Davis and Dona Hermsmeyer.
