William L. Lemanski, 80

William "Bill" L. Lemanski, 80, of Springfield, died at 10:18 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

He was born Sept. 8, 1931 in Kincaid, the son of John Joseph and Clara Louise (Colb) Lemanski. He married Margaret Dunham on Dec. 26, 1973 at St. Peter and Paul in Springfield.

Lemanski graduated from Kincaid High School and earned his associate's degree from Brown's Business School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He retired from Fiat-Allis, where he worked in the accounting department and later managed the credit union. He then went to work for the IL Department of Public Aid for eight years.

He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and enjoyed playing the piano and spending time working in the yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank and Donnie Lemanski.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Springfield; son, John Joseph Lemanski of Tempe, AZ; daughter, Mary Lemanski (Allen) Dougherty of Downers Grove; grandson, Aiden Dougherty; brother, Bob (wife Shirley) Lemanski of Nokomis; two sisters, Rosemary and Margaret Lemanski, both of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, Springfield.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Springfield with the Rev. Peter Harmon, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
