Aileen M. Hampton, 93, of Carlinville, formerly of Litchfield, died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Carlinville Area Hospital.

Mrs. Hampton was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Chesterfield, daughter of Leonard and Lulu (Wolfe) Moore. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed gardening in her spare time.
She married John L. Hampton on Jan. 1, 1945, in Champaign, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1993. Also preceding her were her parents; one brother, Carl Moore; and two sisters, Mary Harper and Ruth Deppe.
Mrs. Hampton leaves one son, Geoffry (wife Fran) Hampton of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one granddaughter, Melissa Kuhnel; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Irelyn Kuhnel.
