Billie Leon Carlock, 93, of Fillmore, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, at his residence in Fillmore, surrounded by family.
The funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore, with Pastor Bob Morgason officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A burial will follow the services at the Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.
Mr. Carlock was born April 18, 1933, the son of Irving “Leon” Carlock and Ruth (Towell) Carlock in Montgomery County. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army. He honorably served his country during the Korean War. He married his wife, Darlene (Lipe) Carlock on March 28, 1956, in Hillsboro. They shared 70 lovely years of marriage together.
The Carlock family has lost its patriarch, but he was so much more than that. He’ll definitely be remembered for that smile and that orneriness that he just couldn’t help showing. He truly was a blessing and personified the saying “Not all heroes wear capes.” He will be remembered for all the lessons, advice, swift kicks in the rear, humbleness, toughness, friendship, mentorship, storytelling and much more. He was definitely one of a kind and very much irreplaceable.
Mr. Carlock started farming with a horse and plow at the age of nine and ended in a combine at about the age of 90 because he could no longer climb up in it. He was an extremely dedicated worker. Aside from farming, he also worked in construction for many years with the Local 1084. Outside of work he was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending his time reading.
He was a man that would give others the shirt off his back and be there no matter what. He was a man’s man but had a side that when one was down would put one of those big hands on one’s back and say it’s going to be okay. He was a devout Christian and family man that will be greatly missed. God definitely gained a one-of-a-kind angel.
Mr. Carlock is survived by his wife, Darlene Carlock of Fillmore; his sons, Mark (Catherine) Carlock of Fillmore and Brian Carlock of Nokomis; his grandchildren, Lainie (Mike) McNary, Mark (Jennifer) Carlock, Lydon (Jess) Carlock, Dustin Carlock, Ethan (Payton) Carlock, Keith (Marissa) Carlock, Jesse (Selena) Carlock and Blaine and Destiney, 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Malloy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve Carlock; and his siblings, Floyd Carlock and Evelyn DeViney.
Memorial donations can be made out to the Fillmore Sportsman’s Club. Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore is in charge of arrangements. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net.
