Mark Anthony Schafer, 41, of Carlinville, died on Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, 2026, on I-55 in Edwardsville.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, located at 260 Woodlawn Dr., in Carlinville. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Burial will follow in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Carlinville.
Mr. Schafer was born July 24, 1985, in Staunton, a son of Michael W. Schafer and Roberta Ann (Watters) Green.
He operated Central Core Recycling business after his father’s death. Then he went to school for HVAC and worked on boilers for a few years. He liked to collect things, ride his motorcycle, as well as mushroom hunting and being in the woods. He loved his children more than anything and was a jokester who could always make people laugh.
Mr. Schafer is survived by his mother, Roberta Ann (David) Green of Litchfield; significant other, Megan Riane Harper of Carlinville; son, Gene Michael Schafer; daughter, Kori Riane Schafer; brothers, Michael W. Schafer II of Carlinville and Mason James (Brooke) Schafer of Litchfield; step-brother, David (Sasha) Green of Carlinville; and step-sister, Misty (Issac) Pizzo of Litchfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael W. Schafer I.
Memorials may be made towards his children’s education.
