Florence Marie Pierce, 107, of Litchfield, died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at Litchfield Health and Rehab.
Visitation will be held at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Auten of Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pierce was born on March 26, 1918, a daughter of Frances “Frank” James and Emma Josephine (Ewing) Leatherby. She married Orren Wayne Pierce on March 19, 1960, in Litchfield. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on June 17, 2018. She was a laundress and folder for the F.W. Means Co., later known as Clean Towel Co. She saw many changes during her 107 years. She was an avid camper and loved music and dancing. She was known for her crafting skills and enjoyed crochet, embroidery and quilting. She was an excellent cook, and treasured spending time with her family.
Mrs. Pierce is survived by a daughter-in-law, Elsie Hayes of Meadowbrook; grandchildren, Debbie Miller of Avon, Patti Becker of Cottage Hills, Kenny Hayes (Candy Sunderland) of Moro, Charles (Linda) Hayes, Sr., of Troy, Lisa (Kenny) Simpkins of Buncombe and Nikki (Kevin) Grieshaber of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren, Bill (Mary) Voyles, Charles (Amber) Hayes, Jr., Stephanie (Kevin) Morris, Erin (Jon Rhoades) Miller, Courtney (Robbie) Allen, Nicholas Grieshaber and Lindsay Grieshaber; great-great-grandchildren, Austin (Morgan) Voyles, Ariel (Brian) Sherman, Gracie (Josh) Voyles, Zoey Voyles, Riley and Ethan Allen, Malcolm Hayes and Kolten and Kamron Keener; and great-great-great-grandchild, Waylon Voyles.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Hayes; siblings, Thornton “T.J.” Leatherby, Frances Schuster, Wilford Leatherby (in infancy) and a great-great granddaughter, Madison Shepler.
