John William Johnson, 70, of Taylorville, died on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at his residence.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at 10 a.m. at Kettelkamp Cemetery in Nokomis. Shafer-Perfetti and Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville is assisting the family.
Mr. Johnson was born March 12, 1950, in Hillsboro, to Charles “Chuck” and Lucia (Marley) Johnson.
Following his high school graduation from Nokomis High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Johnson worked at Sangamon Paper Company for many years and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis.
He was an avid fisherman, and he especially enjoyed fishing the pond at the family farm.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Jimmy (wife Christine) Johnson of Seminole, FL; grandson, Benjamin; brother, Charles “Chaz” Johnson of Holiday, FL; mother of his son, Sally Dickerson of Trilla; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jim, Robert “Babes” and Roger “Onze” Johnson.
