Joy A. Horn, 93, of Belleville, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville. Private graveside services will be held after the visitation at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Mrs. Horn was born March 15, 1928 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of John and Bonny (Bildberback) Newbrough. She married the Rev. Robert W. Horn.
Mrs. Horn worked as a secretary for Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and was also a former intake counselor for Graham Correctional Center. She was the organist at multiple churches.
She is survived by her daughter, Conny Horn of Springfield; Jean Stark of Belleville; grandchildren, Nacedah (husband Josh) Hancock, Robert (wife Amanda) Stark, Evelyn (husband Jonathon) Wulf, and Beth Stark; great-grandson Anthony James (“AJ”) Stark; and son-in-law Stephen Dayringer.
Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents; daughter Nancy Joy Dayringer; sister Dona McLucas; and son-in-law Richard (“Tuba”) Young.
