Ray Schwab, 85

Ray Ernest Schwab, 85, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025 at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past three-and-a-half years.

A celebration of life was held at the First Baptist Church of Litchfield on Tuesday, Sept. 30,with Michael Koen officiating. His remains were donated to science and will be interred at a later date, in Elm Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Schwab was born on Oct. 17, 1939, in Litchfield, a son of Albert and Mildred Borror Schwab. He was a 1958 graduate of Litchfield High School. He married Alice Wilson on Sept. 17, 1961, at the First Baptist Church of Litchfield. They spent 64 years together, and she survives.

He began his career at Weather Proof Company (commonly known as WEPCO,) where he was a glass cutter. Later, he became a printer at the House of Sunshine in Litchfield, where he served for 25 years. He also worked at Data Manufacturing as a printer. After retirement, he worked at Pizza Man, mowed and manicured lawns and did landscaping. He enjoyed doing odd jobs for others.

Mr. Schwab lived with a spirit of committment and service. He took great pride in his garden, was a scoutmaster for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, loved working puzzles and especially enjoyed watching birds gather at his bird feeder.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Donna (Richard) Bili of Apopka, FL, Marlene (Tim) Reynolds of Mt. Olive, Glenn (Susan) Schwab of Georgetown, TX, Judy (Mike) Cerutti of Coffeen, Ellen (Kevin) Thiessen of Litchfield; ten grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Schwab was preceded in death by a sister, Joan (Gale) Scheller; an infant sister; and brothers, Bob, Bill, Harold and Buel Schwab.
