Roy E. Lawson, 81, of Litchfield, died on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, under the care of Quad Counties Hospice.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Lawson was born in St. Clair, MO, on Dec. 8, 1944, the son of Theodore R. and Yolda D. (Rulo) Lawson. He married Dorothy M. Longwell in Carlinville and she survives.

He is a United States Army Sergeant Veteran, serving from 1964 to 1967. For 15 years, he worked on Norfolk Southern Railroad in maintenance. He later worked for Dana Incorporated as an inspector on car parts. He is of the Baptist faith. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Mr. Lawson is survived by his children, Brad (Jenn Reummler) Lawson, David (Brandi) Lawson, Tammy (Chris) Smith, Randy (Teresa) Boerckel and Sandy Boerckel; siblings, Ted (Judy) Lawson, Richard (Inez) Lawson and Johnny (Sue) Lawson; grandchildren, Nancy (Chris) Dearinger, Pam (Jeff Heyen) Boerckel, Amanda (Andrew) Green, Brandy (Mike) Shaw, Randy (Tiffany) Boerckel, Ian Lawson, James Rogers, Rebecca Lawson, Andrea Lawson, Tim Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Ashley Register and Rick Boerckel; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Junior; and sister-in-law, Sue Lawson.
