Calvin Arthur Weber, 92, of Litchfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 6:04 p.m. at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Gillespie.

Private funeral services for the family will be held at a later date. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Weber was born on June 22, 1925, in Cleveland, OH, the son of Charles and Jessie (Meikle) Weber. He married Alice Mae Weber on May 13, 1950, in Cleveland, OH, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2014.

An accountant with B.F. Goodrich, he was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy. He was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield. His passion was helping those in need. He volunteered his time serving the communities he lived in, including Henry, Solon, OH; Englewood, FLĀ  and Litchfield. The many charities and services he devoted himself to included Meals on Wheels, providing transportation to seniors requiring medical care, teaching prisoners in correctional institutions to read, fundraising for United Cerebral Palsy, as well as volunteering his time and energy to the Litchfield Hearts United and the Litchfield Food Pantry. In 2004, he was a proud recipient of the prestigious Veiled Non-Profit award for his community service in Litchfield.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Bruce (Susie) Weber, M.D. of Litchfield and Dr. Eric (Jodi) Weber, Ph.D. of Athens, GA; five grandchildren, Michael (Lindsay) Weber of Los Angeles, CA; Dr. Benjamin (Marianne) Weber, M.D. of Chicago, Joseph (Mallory) Weber of Chicago, Dr. Joel Weber, Ph.D. of Boulder, CO and Sarah Weber of Rostock, Germany; three great-granddaughters, Margaret Ava Weber, Lucy Katherine Weber and Rosemary Grace Weber; three siblings, Chuck Weber of Ohio, William "Bill" Weber of Florida and Janet Allchin of Nevada.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Weber.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Litchfield Food Pantry, 102 S. Montgomery Avenue, Litchfield, IL 62056.
