Claralena Leora (Oppermann) Nawotka, 91, of Midwest City, OK, died Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Quality Care Hospice.
Mrs. Nawotka was born July 1, 1924, near Nokomis, a daughter of the late Henry and Nellie Oppermann.
At age 28, she joined the Air Army Corps where she served at Scott AFB and met her husband of 30 years, Richard. She traveled with him to Belgium where her son was born and then Washington, D.C. before settling in Midwest City, OK.
Mrs. Nawotka worked as a ward clerk at the VA and volunteered with Retired Services at Tinker AFB.
Her family said she was a spunky woman with a great sense of humor.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, May 16, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens. Ford Funeral Service of Midwest City assisted the family.
Mrs. Nawotka is survived by three granddaughters, Mary, Annie (Jamie) and Sarah, and two great-grandsons, Dominic and Elias.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Iolla, and a son, Donald.
