David J. Dirks, 66, of Nokomis, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 5:03 a.m. in his home surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nokomis Memorial Park House. A memorial will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the memorial park house. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dirks was born on Dec. 5, 1951, in Hillsboro, to Harvey and Ruth (Engelman) Dirks. He married Linda Niewinksi on June 20, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis, and she survives.
He served in the 183rd Air National Guard from 1970 to 1976. He retired from Caterpillar in Decatur, and operated Dirks Radiator in Nokomis from 1981 until present.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Dirks is survived by his children, Michael (Jodi) Dirks and Kelli (Roger) Gregg, both of Nokomis; grandchildren, Dylan and Cloey Dirks and Griffen and Colbi Gregg; and two sisters, Linda Waters of Sullivan and Betty Rench of Nokomis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cinda Reatherford; and two brothers, John and Charles Dirks.
