Donald Pink Sykes, Jr., 49, of Litchfield died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 12:58 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Litchfield Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Oley Lawson of Walshville officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the church. Cremation will follow the services.
Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sykes was born on July 29, 1966, in Granite City, the son of Donald Pink and Darlyne Evelyn (Greer) Sykes. He married Tracy Lynn Harbaugh on Feb. 16, 1991, at Walshville Baptist Church, and she survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1984. A self-employed general laborer, he enjoyed woodworking, mushroom hunting, gardening, helping others and tinkering around. He was a member of Litchfield Southern Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Sykes is survived by one son, Donald P. Sykes III of Litchfield; one daughter, Olivia D. Sykes of Litchfield; his mother, Darlyne Sykes of Walshville; and five sisters, Sherrie Richard of Walshville, Kim Applegate of Litchfield, Jamie Kingery of Witt and Michelle Klossing and Christie (Gary W.) Law, both of Litchfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Pink Sykes, Sr.; and three nephews, Mark Birkenkamp, Jr., Travis J. DeClue and Mickey W. Sykes.
