Doris Vogt, 81

Doris Mae Vogt, 81, of Effingham died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham. 

A funeral Mass was said Friday, Aug. 19, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in Seminary Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vogt was born on Jan.  21, 1935, in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Melvin and Ruth (Mills) Thompson. She married Clem J. Vogt on Aug. 23, 1991, and he survives in Effingham.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. She worked for many years in a hospital, as well as in-home care as a certified nurse's assistant. 

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Vogt is survived by four sons, Carl (Ranee) Rogers of Hillsboro, Rod (Sissy) Rogers of Brownstown, Mike Rogers and David Rogers, both of Colchester; stepson, Tom (Crystal) Vogt of Effingham; four stepdaughters, Sue (Lynn) Marvin of Effingham, Joyce (Phil) Mathews of Effingham, Christie (Chad) Sexton of Clinton, IN, and Amy Vogt of Effingham; brother, Darrell (Donna) Thompson of Brownstown; sister, Jan Moore of Vandalia; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren and five great-stepgrandchildren. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepgrandson, Philip; and five brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Effingham County Humane Society or to the donor’s choice.
