Hazel Mae Davis, 85

Hazel Mae Davis, 85, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 8 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 17, beginning at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond with ministers Dave Ziegenbein and Lynn Laughlin co-officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.

Mrs. Davis was born a twin on March 16, 1932, in Litchfield, to Alfred and Eliza (Kahl) Wilson. She married Shirley L. Davis on March 19, 1950, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1988.

She began working at a young age cleaning and ironing, and also cooked at several different locations including Camp Jomoco, Carriage House, Wooden Nickle and Owens Country Corner.

Mrs. Davis attended Honey Bend School, and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed collecting bells, Pink Lady's and Denim Kids.

Later in life, she opened her home to many children, whom she watched throughout the years, and also cleaned and served as a caregiver to many.

The tenth child of 13, she and her twin sister, Ethel, shared a double wedding.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her five children, Lee (Davaline) Davis of Litchfield, Marie (companion Tom Bradburn) Davis-Kelly of Litchfield, Ron (Anita) Davis of Litchfield, Frank (Jeri) Davis of Apple Valley, MN, and Ramona (Rob) Davis Odorizzi of Litchfield; 11 grandchildren, Christy Holliday, Ronnie (Jen) Davis, April (Dennis) Davis Rottmann, Ryan (Miranda) Davis, Roger (Brittany) Davis, Ashley Mae (Dustin) Davis Everett, Jennifer Bobak, Frankie Davis II, Heather (Craig) Owens Murdock, Lee Owens and Robbie Odorizzi; 22 great-grandchildren, Sgt. Brett (Paulina) Holliday, Tyler Holliday, Ean and Ethan Davis, August and Dennis Rottmann, Ryan Jr. and Reid Davis, Roger Jr. and Reese Davis, Easton and Timberleigh Mae Everett, Blair and Tommy Bobak, Jake and Cody Davis, Sydney Murdock, Trenton, Audrey and Carly Owens and Gavin and Connor Odorizzi; twin sister, Ethel File of Litchfield; sister, Evelyn Sites of Jackson, MO; brother, Alfred "Alfie" Wilson of Hillsboro; sisters-in-law, Dee Wilson and Jeanne Davis Cruzan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-granddaughter, Brook E. Cox; brothers, Henry, Edwin, Walter, Arthur, Roy, Chuck and Bob; and sisters, Alice Prose and Dorothy Billiter.
