Helen Louise Presnell, 81, of Pana, died Sunday, May 3, 2015, in her home.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Newman and Pastor Jim Hubner officiating.

Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Pana.

Mrs. Presnell was born on May 7, 1933, in Mt. Auburn, the daughter of the late William H. and Dorothy (McDonald) Steck. She married Wayne C. Presnell at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Dec. 31, 1955, and he survives in Pana.

She was a graduate of Taylorville High School and moved to Pana from Taylorville after graduating high school. She had been a telephone operator, activity director at Prairie Rose Health Care, worked part-time at Sugar Creek Creamery, Henderson Green House and in the deli at Cummings Foods.

Mrs. Presnell was an active member of New Life Community Church in Pana and was a volunteer at the Nokomis Community Closet and Oconee Baptist Church Food Pantry. She loved flower gardening, ceramics, painting and taking pictures.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Stephen Presnell of Waukegan and Cindy (husband Jim) Lawrence of Oconee; nine grandchildren, Jason (wife Renae) Lawrence of Nokomis, Adam Lawrence of Ft. Worth, TX, Seth Lawrence of  Santa Rosa, CA, Krystal Lawrence (fiance Cody Bailey) of Nokomis, Matthew Lawrence of Arcada, CA, Nikki Hoffert of Morrisonville, Tony (wife Sarah) Presnell and Meghan Geisler, both of Pana, and Rebecca Salter of Colorado; 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Presnell was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Scott Presnell, on Sept. 10, 2006; brothers, William Steck, Jr. and David Steck; and sister, Shirley "Sug" Smith.

Memorials may be made to the Pana Community Hospital Foundation for Hospice or Oconee Baptist Church Food Pantry.
