Jeffrey Thomas Spencer, 45, of Hillsboro, died at 4:23 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Randy Sands will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Spencer was born on Sept. 4, 1968, in Hillsboro to Rick and Janet (Salsi) Spencer. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1986 and attended Western Illinois University before obtaining his electrician's license.

His memberships included the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

He lived his entire life in Hillsboro and worked as an electrician for Mondin Electric.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his mother, Janet Spencer of Hillsboro; his father, Rick (wife Jane) Spencer of Coffeen; two children, Jared and Sadie Spencer of St. Jacob; fiance, Laura Durbin of Hillsboro; her children, Amber, Kaleb, Alexa and Kaden Durbin; aunt and uncle, Carol and David Booher of Hillsboro; and a cousin, Kristin Booher of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth L. Spencer (April 28, 2008), and his grandparents, Harry and Juanita Spencer and Lee "Babe" and Aileen Salsi.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter or to the Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
