Kenneth Richard Doty, Sr., 76, of Mt. Olive died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Becker & Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Nancy Hubert officiating.
Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
Mr. Doty was born on April 10, 1940, in St. Louis County, MO, the son of the late Oscar Truman Doty, Sr. and Lula (Jackson) Doty. He married Wanda Smeathers, and she preceded him in death. He then married Jean Bohlen, and she survives in Mt. Olive.
He attended several schools in the St. Louis area and was a lifelong employee of the Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Doty is survived by two sons, Rick Doty of Mt. Olive and Michael (Amy) Doty of Beaver Dam, KY; two daughters, Connie Malone of Gillespie and Dawn Bowers of Mt. Olive; one brother, John (Virginia) Doty of Sorento; one sister, Rose Tiepelman of Livingston; three stepdaughters, Debbie (Art) Page of Walshville, Patty Covington (companion Cecil) of Mt. Olive and Lisa (Julio) Sanchez of Evansville, IN; two stepsons, Johnny (Denise) Embry of Staunton and Chuck Embry of Burgeon, KY; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Roxanne Kuni; four brothers, Bob, Butch, Roland and Oliver, Jr. Doty; three sisters, Irene Zumwalt, Bea Tiepelman and Loretta Doty; and three grandchildren.
