Lena J. Hampton, 81, of Thayer died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, at Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Virden with the Rev. John Huxtable officiating.
Interment was in Virden Cemetery.
Mrs. Hampton was born on March 21, 1934, in Gillespie, the daughter of Charles and Myrna (Cleeton) Palmer. She married Charles E. Hampton on Dec. 31, 1955, in Carlinville, and he survives in Thayer.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Edward L. (Dixie) Hampton of Girard, Kevin C. (Becky) Hampton of Waverly, Timothy P. (Nell) Hampton of Pleasant Plains and Ricky D. (Roxanne) Hampton of Ashland; daughters, Loretta F. Lucassen of Thayer and Lisa M. Lackey of Farmersville; brothers, Richard Palmer of Virden and Samuel Palmer of Gillespie; sisters, Dorothy Hubbard of Encinitas, CA, Arline Hopper of Gillespie and Lorraine Bivin of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Palmer; and sisters, Bernice Thomas, Eva Palmer, Pauline Coatney and Gloria Moyer.
