Marilyn Sue Behrendt, 77, of Lansing, MI, formerly of Litchfield, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at the Willows of East Lansing at 10:05 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service in Litchfield with the Rev. Dr. Leslie J. Mitkos officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mrs. Behrendt was born on Sept. 13, 1939, in Litchfield, the daughter of the late James E. Driskell and Virginia Adala Arnold. She married John N. Behrendt on Nov. 4, 1961, in Litchfield, and he survives in Lansing, MI.
She graduated from Litchfield High School and went on to further her education at Carthage College in Wisconsin and then earned her master's degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
Mrs. Behrendt was a school teacher for the Litchfield Community School District where she retired as a special education teacher in 1999. One of her proudest moments was receiving the Teacher of the Year Award.
She was an active Rotarian serving with the Litchfield club and belonged to the Eastern Star and P.E.O. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, where she served as an elder and clerk.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Behrendt is survived by her daughters, Amy Catherine Moore of Texas and Beth (Jon) Lundy of Lansing, MI; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Moore, Sarah Lundy, David Moore, Claire Lundy and Christian Lundy.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Rotary International Foundation Polio Plus Fund.
