Marshall Kenneth Hare, 80, of Sorento died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, in Granite City Nursing & Rehab.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana with Pastor Wayne Thompson, Pastor Terry Pope and Pastor Danny Brown officiating. Burial will be in Craig Cemetery with graveside military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hare was born on Aug. 26, 1935, in Spurger, TX, a son of the late Emory Lee and Frances Viola (Candrain) Hare.  A U.S. Army veteran of the  Korean War, he lived in Texas, Pana and Granite City before moving to Sorento in 2003.  

He and Karen Deloris Kaiser were married on June 13, 1960, in Pana, and she survives.

Mr. Hare was a member of Panama American Legion, First Church of the Nazarene in Pontoon Beach, past member of Oak Valley United Pentecostal Church and Operating Engineers Local 520 for 18 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to flea markets.

He had worked as an industrial maintenance supervisor 20 years for Combustion Energy, and also had owned and operated an excavation business. After retiring, he farmed.

Along with his wife, Mr. Hare is survived by a daughter, Marsha (David) DeGonia of Chesterfield, VA; two sons, Michael (Marsha) Hare of Collinsville and Kenneth R. Hare (fiancée Samantha Lewis) of  Sorento; six grandchildren, Brent DeGonia, Brittany DeGonia, Michael Hare, Jr., Dillon Hare, Abbagale Hare and Sean Hare; 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jenna, Kaylee, Chase, Mason, Carson, Ryan, Maverick, Mitchell, Steveie and Jaxon; three brothers, Travis Hare, Ray Haire, Montie Beard; and a sister Beulah Faye Barnett.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Dale Hare, E.L. Hare, Edward Hare.
