Mildred A. Thompson, 87, of north of Greenville died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Montgomery Health and Rehab Center in Taylor Springs.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Visitation will be Saturday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was born on March 12, 1929, in rural Greenville, the daughter of Huey and Nettie (Wiseman) Huffman.  She married Wayne F. Thompson on Oct. 21, 1948, in Morganfield, KY, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2009.

She grew up in the Reno area and moved north of Greenville after her marriage, where she and her husband farmed. She attended Woburn Church of Christ.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her sisters, Marilyn (husband Alvie) Booher of Hillsboro and Pauline Cofield of Greenville; and brothers, Huey “Jack” (wife Danielle) Huffman of Ellsinore, MO, and Edward Allen (wife Sue) Huffman of Sorento.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Francis Marie Thompson; son, James Dean Thompson; two sisters, Ula Ashcraft and Adele Gantt; and two brothers, Austin Huffman and Ivan Huffman.
