Murrell 'Leroy' Carroll, 75

Murrell "Leroy" Carroll, 75, of Wenonah died Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the funeral home with Pastor Justin Hill officiating.

Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery with flag folding by the U.S. Army.  

Mr. Carroll was born on Oct. 7, 1939, in Audubon Township, the son of the late William Edward and Clara Bell (Jacobs) Carroll. He married Mary A. McClain on Dec. 11, 1960, and she survives. 

He lived in Audubon Township and in Pana before moving to the Nokomis area in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army for two years from 1963 to 1965 with one year in Germany.

Mr. Carroll worked at Hedlund Mfg. Co. before serving in the Army. After coming home he worked for McClain’s Radio and T.V. and then at the quarry in Wenonah for over 32 years before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Coalton Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Rebecca A. Carroll of Nokomis, Ramona L. Tomazzoli of Hillsboro and Regina E. Siebert of Ohlman; four grandchildren, Colleen and Dillan Edrington, Dalton Siebert and  Adam Dodds; three brothers, Ralph Carroll of Fillmore, Lloyd Carroll of Pana and Marvin (wife Beverly) Carroll of Coalton; sisters-in-law, Betty Carroll of Coalton and Cynthia Hayes of Nokomis; brother- in- law and sister-in-law, John and Margaret McClain; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by two brothers, Nova Eller and Alva Carroll; and three sisters in infancy.

Memorials may be made to Coalton Baptist Church or Montgomery County Cancer Association.
