Ninzel Anne Anoe, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Matt Ferguson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday before services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Anoe was born on Sept. 9, 1921, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Orlo M. and Mabel (Hart) Brees.  She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1938 and had six years additional education, earning a master's degree in English and an honorary doctorate from SIU School of Medicine in Springfield.

She was dean of admissions at SIU School of Medicine and had taught English literature and composition at schools and within the prison systems in Arizona and Illinois, including Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro.  During her life, she lived in Hillsboro, Sun City West, AZ, and Springfield, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro and Central Baptist Church in Springfield.

She married Harold Anoe on Nov. 10, 1942, in St. Charles, MO, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1992.

She is survived by three children, Emily (husband Gary) Briney of Raleigh, NC, Cindy Garretson of Springfield and Ken (wife Kim) Anoe of Newburg, OR; four grandchildren, Amanda (husband Keith), Rebecca, Jen and Karen; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leslie Briggs, and a brother in infancy.
